Terms of booking
What you are agreeing to when you confirm a ticket, and what we owe you in return.
Last updated 1 August 2026 · Version 3.1
Note. This site is a demonstration build and no bookings are real. The terms below are a working template — have a lawyer review and adapt them before use.
1. The agreement
Confirming a booking creates a contract between you and Museums of Egypt for the supply of museum entry. The museum sets its own conditions of entry; we sell access under them and pass your booking on. Where the two conflict, the museum's rules govern what happens inside the building.
2. Entry windows
- A ticket admits you within the window shown on it, and for a grace period of thirty minutes after.
- Arriving later does not void the ticket, but entry then depends on capacity that day.
- A ticket admits you once. Leaving the building ends the visit unless the museum operates re-entry.
- Slots open ninety days ahead and close two hours before the window begins.
3. Reduced rates
Student and child tickets are checked at the gate. Bring a valid student card for each student ticket, and be ready to show the age of a child aged 6 to 12. Under-6s enter free and need no ticket. If a reduced ticket cannot be evidenced, the museum will ask for the difference at the counter before letting you in.
4. Prices and payment
Prices are shown in Egyptian pounds and include VAT where it applies. The price is fixed at the moment you confirm; a later revision by the museum does not change what you paid. If your card is charged in another currency, your bank sets the exchange rate, not us.
Prices published elsewhere on this site are indicative and for planning. The figure on your confirmation is the one that counts.
5. Changes, cancellations and refunds
- More than 48 hours before the visit: cancel for a full refund.
- Between 48 and 24 hours: cancel for a 50% refund.
- Within 24 hours: no refund, but you may move the booking to another date subject to space.
- Date transfers: free of charge up to 24 hours before, once per booking.
If the museum closes on your date — restoration, a state occasion, a security closure — you get the choice of another date or a full refund, whichever you prefer. Refunds return to the card used, normally within ten working days.
6. In the galleries
Museum staff may refuse entry or ask you to leave, without a refund, if you damage or attempt to touch an object, ignore photography restrictions, are intoxicated, or behave in a way that puts the collection or other visitors at risk. Bag scanning is a condition of entry at every museum on this site.
Bags above cabin size go to the cloakroom. Tripods, drones, sharp objects and food are not admitted. The Royal Mummies Hall at the Museum of Egyptian Civilisation forbids photography altogether.
7. Resale
Tickets are for the named holder and are not for resale. A ticket offered for sale by a third party may be cancelled without refund, and we will not honour a booking bought from anyone other than us or the museum.
8. Accuracy of information
Opening hours, prices, gallery closures and collection highlights change, sometimes at short notice and sometimes without announcement. We keep this site current to the best of our ability, but we cannot guarantee that a particular object will be on display on a particular day. If a museum's own information differs from ours, theirs is right.
9. Liability
We are responsible for supplying a valid ticket for the slot you booked. We are not responsible for the museum's own operations, for travel to and from it, or for losses arising from a closure or a delay outside our control. Nothing here limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud, where the law does not permit such a limit.
10. If something goes wrong
Write to [email protected] with your booking reference. We reply within two working days. If we cannot settle it between us, consumers in the EU may use the national alternative dispute resolution scheme in their country of residence.
11. Changes to these terms
The terms that apply to your booking are the ones published when you confirmed it. Later revisions apply to later bookings, and we date every version at the top of this page.
